The Zendure SolarFlow 3000 Mix AC+ and 4000 Mix AC+ both provide 8 kWh of storage, but they are not simply the same home battery with a different model number. Their main differences are AC power, connection options and how far the system can be expanded. The 3000 often suits households looking for a relatively straightforward plug-in solution, while the 4000 offers more scope for a higher-power or larger future installation.

Capacity and power are frequently confused. The 8 kWh figure tells you how much energy the battery can store. The kW figure tells you how quickly it can charge or discharge. Higher power matters when several heavy loads operate together or when more solar surplus needs to be processed within a short window.

When is the Zendure 3000 Mix AC+ the better fit?

The Zendure SolarFlow 3000 Mix AC+ is relevant when you need a generous 8 kWh of storage and want to keep the installation straightforward. Zendure specifies up to 3 kW of grid-connected AC output. Official support information describes the plug connection as the intended configuration and states that the 3000 series is not intended for hard wiring.

The 3000 is a logical candidate when:

  • your normal daily solar surplus and evening use match roughly 8 kWh of storage;
  • you do not expect to need a very large modular battery bank;
  • a plug-in configuration is suitable for your electrical installation and local rules;
  • your main goal is to shift your own solar energy from daytime to evening;
  • a 10 ms UPS transfer suits the connected equipment.

The battery has no direct MPPT solar input. Existing solar panels continue to use their inverter, with energy exchanged through the AC side of the home.

When is the Zendure 4000 Mix AC+ the better fit?

The Zendure SolarFlow 4000 Mix AC+ targets situations where additional AC power and expansion matter. Zendure specifies 4 kW of bidirectional AC power and expansion up to 50 kWh. It can be used in a plug-in configuration, but accessing higher power can require an appropriate fixed connection.

The 4000 is more likely to suit you when:

  • you want to support higher simultaneous loads;
  • you expect to add considerably more storage later;
  • you want to include an AC-coupled PV inverter in the system design;
  • your electrical installation can be prepared for a higher-power connection;
  • a qualified electrician can assess how much power is safely available.

The regular 4000 Mix AC+ does not have a direct MPPT PV input either. Zendure also offers a 4000 Mix Pro; that is a different product and should not be confused with the standard 4000 Mix AC+.

Is 8 kWh enough for your household?

Do not size a home battery only from annual consumption. Focus on what happens during a day: how much energy you normally export, how much you use after solar generation falls and how much reserve the battery keeps.

A practical starting point is the lower of:

  1. your usual daily grid export;
  2. your electricity use between the end of solar generation and the following morning.

If that value is normally 4 to 7 kWh, an 8 kWh battery may already be ample. If you consistently export and later consume much more, expansion can become useful. Our guide to choosing home battery capacity explains this in more detail.

Installation: plug-in does not mean unlimited power

Maximum product power is not automatically available through every socket. The circuit, wiring, protection and other appliances on that circuit determine what is safe. A qualified electrician should inspect any hard-wired connection or uncertain setup.

Choose the Zendure 3000 Mix AC+ when 8 kWh fits well, you want a clear plug-in solution and up to 3 kW grid-connected output is sufficient.

Choose the Zendure 4000 Mix AC+ when up to 4 kW AC power, an appropriate fixed connection or expansion to a much larger storage bank may matter. Have the electrical installation assessed first.
